Natural Remedies That Experts Approve

Sometimes we have the tools at home that help us live life the fullest.  If not try the produce aisles.  Here are just a few remedies that will bring relief:

To boost immunity.  Garlic has immune-boosting properties.  Minced or crushed one to three cloves and leave them exposed to the air for a few minutes.  This boosts a sulfur compound called allicin, which acts like an antimicrobial to kill viruses and bacteria.  Note:  at the very end of cooking add garlic because heating destroys allicin.

Stomach Flu.  Since we are coming upon flu season, we need to be proactive by adding this natural spice to meals.  I believe in adding ginger to our meals is one of the best ways to fight off nausea, vomiting and eases your stomach cramps and bloating.

To reduce Inflammation.

Oregano is a source of antioxidants which help reduce inflammation and soothe your stomach.

Ginger aids digestion, is highly anti-inflammatory, and protects against cancer

Onion:  Provides anti-inflammatory benefits and protects cells from oxidative stress.  Helps lower risk of certain cancers

Apples:  This antioxidant-rich fruit helps reduce inflammation and is linked to heart and lung health

Spinach:  Rich in vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, spinach protects against inflammation, oxidative stress, and cancer

Turmeric:  This powerful detoxifier and anti-inflammatory cleanses the liver and helps prevent many types of cancer

Who would think we can find the best remedies in our refrigerator or even pantry?  Check my website out for more blogs to help you become proactive instead of reactive to your daily lifestyle.

What’s Going on with Me?

Dear Readers,

I promised I would blog, but instead I have written a book called, “Enjoying Life Against all Odds, As a Traumatic Brain Injury Survivor.”  What on earth did I do? Me, a simple person just trying to enjoy life.  I stepped out of my comfort zone to write this book.  Only GOD knows…why

In our book I shared my experiences, I humbled myself to you my avid reader.  It is amazing that I finally completed something.  I am not bragging in the least bit but all I know is it had to be from GOD, Jesus Christ of Nazareth and the Holy Spirit navigating my thoughts, emotions, and memories.  I wake up some days just extremely exhausted, and struggle with fatigue.  I get into my scriptures and know that my Heavenly Father “ABBA” is carrying me.

I look upon my life as a miracle.  As I defecated my thought process upon paper, I had a WOW moment.  Really, I went through all that?  I know others are experiencing struggles, so I desire to spread hope and the gift of life-giving words to those who need it.  Times like these can be discouraging, especially with this COV19.  Restrictions in all aspects of our lives.  Going to the doctor’s office seems out of the picture as do video calls instead of in-person.  How can we take care of ourselves in the midst of all this chaos?

Today I am going to share about inflammation.  Inflammation is a contributor to our memory loss.

4 Signs of Systemic Inflammation

As scientists begin to understand the body’s complex systems better, a clearer picture of how silent inflammation can impact your health is emerging.

Here are four of the most common symptoms:

  1. Brain Fog: Unfortunately, many people start to believe that scattered thoughts and poor concentration are an inevitable part of aging—but they are not! Inflammation can often be the culprit.
  2. Cognitive Impairment: When the brain is inflamed, memory formation and recall can both suffer. Research has shown a link between cognitive impairment and the presence of neurological inflammation.
  3. Aches and Pains: Silent inflammation creates heightened pain sensitivity in the body, as well as common everyday aches and pains in joints and muscles. If your body feels sore and stiff, systemic inflammation may be to blame.
  4. Mood Issues: While neurotransmitter imbalances may be the primary cause of mood issues, recent research suggests that these imbalances may be related to inflammation in the brain.

While your symptoms may be mere annoyances now, your heart and brain could be at serious risk over time.

Fortunately, you can solve this problem naturally, quickly and with no side effects. We carry for your Immune Support and cellar restoration the following:

Today is the Day that You can Change!

Health isn’t just eating right it has to do with your whole being. Your mind, body and soul but most of all spirit. If we neglect our spirit, we get out of alignment. If we neglect our mind, we will go bonkers. If we neglect our bodies, we end up useless in our later years. Why is it so important to “take action” now instead of the tomorrows of life? As, we get into our early sixty’s our muscle tone starts to deplete, our minds need food if neglected our thought processes get displaced. We end up empty, we need to be challenged or even stretched. By, learning something new will help. How about your spirit? Your flesh takes over and your spirit is neglected because you are so focused on your aches and pains. You overlook the little things that lead to major issues as we get older. How do we change? You have a choice. Do you want to enjoy and live life to the fullest in your elder years? Or do you want to sulk and play the Victim Card.

Here are some helpful hints:

  1. Find time for yourself when stress gets high.
    a. Schedule a “Me Day” once a week for a massage, facial, fishing, hunting. Your fav hobby.
    b. Get up, and away from your desk. Go for a walk outside.
    c. Breathing exercises
  2. Know when to ask for help. You are not a Superhero.
    a. At work don’t build your life on high demands of others. Yes, we need to make our employer shine so they can bring in customers. People are more creative when they are taken care of within the work force. Productivity will increase. If not, you will burn out which will cause health issues. At work you are replaceable, but if you solve issues of work burn out you will be considered an asset.
  3. In your family you are not replaceable. You are the rock and foundation.
    a. Schedule an appointment with your spouse each week. Do not cancel
    b. Schedule an appointment with your children. Date your children. Each child is different so make it special for each one. Even if it is only 1-2 hours
    c. Plan Family meetings to make decisions
    d. Plan a Family Vacation, Family Holiday’s, Family time
    e. Call your parents once a week if long distance. If not make it a Family day to visit.
    f. Stop forcing your children to do what you want them to do. Find their talent and then develop it. Their passion is their success and yours. This will help you develop a stronger bonding with your child.
    g. Stop and listen. Listen to your spouse. Listen to your children. Listen to your parents. Listen to friends.
  4. Yearly Physical
  5. Dental Check-up
  6. Eye Examination
  7. Hearing Examination
  8. Sleep 8-10 hours a day. Your body needs to rest and recover from the stress of the day. If you have a baby sleep when they sleep.
  9. Exercise. Find something you love to do. Bike, hike, walk, run, swim, go to your local gym, or better yet you can buy your own equipment and work out at home
  10. Sun, you need 10 or more minutes a day of sunlight. It is a natural D3 dosage
  11. Go to Church. Find a local church you feel comfortable in. You might need to Church shop and it is okay. Sunday is a day to celebrate the life you live. A day to be grateful and enjoy fellowship with others.
  12. Socialization. Find like minded people that will support you and your family.
  13. Volunteer. Looking beyond ourselves is important to know we are part of a community. We were created to help each other.

Wisdom is from the choices we make in life. Wisdom is the key to success in life. Once we realize that we are beautifully made, and we have a journey to fulfill. Change will take place. Personally, I chose a GOD First life, Family Second, Career Third with a twist of Exercise. Yes, what I share seems like common sense, but do we walk the walk and talk the talk.? “Taking action” will make a difference in “Enjoying and Living Life to the Fullest.” What is your excuse for not “taking action”?

Coping with Holiday Stress

  1. Identify the main sources of your Holiday Stress
  2. Learn to make Healthier choices
  3. Develop a plan to manage Your Stress during the Holiday Season
  4. Make it fun and enjoyable. A Christmas to Remember…

Creating a Plan of Action

  1. Let go of unrealistic expectations. Unrealistic expectations can lead to disappointment, causing relationship issues with friends and family. Let your past be your past and your present be your future. You can create the Holiday you deserve.
  2. Acknowledge and express your feelings honestly but humbly. Give yourself permission to feel a sense of loss especially if you are experiencing illness, divorce, death, separation, anxiety, dread, or other pressures. Seek a professional if you have any suicidal thoughts.
  3. Isolation. If you tend to isolate yourself, try to stay busy instead:
    a. Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter or anywhere there is need
    b. Invite others to get together
    c. Get out. Go for a walk. Window Shop
    d. Join a Church
    e. Adopt a dog
  4. Forgiveness. Don’t expect issues with others to disappear but it is the Holiday’s and forgiving along with letting go is a wonderful Christmas gift. If resentment occurs with the other party give grace. If too, hostile you might need to remove yourself. Respecting others and avoidance might be the only way to overcome.
  5. Loneliness. If you are grieving a loved one or you might not have anyone:
    a. Join a support group. Grief Care at a local church
    b. Spend time with family, friends or people who care
    c. Helping others minimizes worrying over your circumstances
    d. Accept that you are lonely. It is okay to feel sad but take enthusiasm and action to heal.
    e. Join a local church
  6. Prepare for the worst:
    a. Eliminate stressful or unnecessary activities or chores (Ask for Help)
    b. Devote time to relax and reboot
    c. Take a “ME Day”. Do something special for You.
    d. Seek Help! This is the time not to be prideful. Let Go and Ask…
  7. Re-evaluate your Christmas traditions. Are they too stressful or time-consuming?
  8. Over-indulgence:
    a. Set a budget and stick to it
    b. Create a Christmas Club for next year
    c. Increase Physical activity. It is getting cold and wanting to sit and drink hot cocoa by the fireplace seems ideal however, walking or cardio exercises will keep your circulation flowing.
    d. Eat, drink, and spend in moderation. Remember the 80/20 rule and stick to non-alcoholic drinks
  9. Remember the True meaning of the Holiday Season
    a. Give Thanks. Have a grateful heart for what you have not what you don’t
    b. Let-go and give grace to those who do not deserve it. They are the ones who need it more than you.
    c. Focus on what is important to you about the Holiday
    d. Love those who are difficult!

Congratulations you are an Over-comer of the Holiday Season! Enjoy and Take Action!

Helping You Improve Your Memory

  1. The first thing you need to do is BELIEVE that your memory will improve.
  2. Challenge your brain. Keep it active learn a new language, do puzzles. Take note of the location of objects in a new place and see how much information you can recall in 30 minutes. Learning observation skills.
  3. Exercise. Take a brisk walk, play volleyball, go for a swim. Do something you enjoy maybe biking or better yet hiking.
  4. Eat well. Add more vegetables to your plate and stay hydrated with water not Gatorade. There is allot of sugar. Buyer beware of the sugar and sodium content.
  5. Reduce Stress. Instead of multitasking try Single focus. Do one task at a time unless your work has you everywhere. You need to grab that Stress monkey by the blank! Some stress is fantastic but prolonged stress can make your memory malfunction. Otherwise it is more difficult to remember even the simplest task.
  6. Sleep 7 to 8 hours a night. A well-rested brain works much better than an overworked tired one.
  7. Focus and get rid of distractions. Cell phone, television or anything that keeps you from accomplishing what you are set out to do.
  8. Visualization. Take mental notes of your surroundings. Poor observational skills lead to a forgetful mind. If you don’t see it than it is difficult to remember something that you barely recognized.
  9. A place for everything and everything in its place. Find a place that you can put all your devices, keys, pocket book, cell phone, wallet, and glasses. A basket or anything that you can just place any easy misplaced items. This way you will not panic and lose track of time in time of urgency.
  10. Be gentle and kind to Yourself. Date yourself once a week. A Spa day or just a YOU day.

Enjoy life, take Action!
