What is Water Therapy and How Can I Benefit?

Water therapy, also referred to as “hydrotherapy” involves therapeutic treatment for your body that includes water.  Water is an extremely important element to life.  We need it to drink, wash our bodies, water our plants and many other things. Without water, every living thing would die.

Drinking Water For Optimal Health

water therapy - drinking waterThere are different types of water therapy treatments but we will start with discussing the most common and well known therapy.  Many people don’t even realize that they are living in a state of dehydration.  Signs of dehydration include:

  • Increased thirst
  • Irritable behavior
  • Dry eyes or blurry vision
  • Headaches
  • Muscle cramps
  • Lack of sweat
  • Dark urine
  • Fever
  • Dry Skin

The first and most important element of this type of water therapy is to make sure to drink water every morning upon waking.  This one decision can have a lasting impact on your overall health.  Some experts say that drinking six glasses of water daily is a good goal for optimal health.  There is, however, an even deeper level of this type of therapy that involves specific details.  Here is the method:

  1. As soon as you wake, drink  about 2.75 cups (21.6 oz) of pure water.
  2. Brush your teeth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes.
  3. Eat and drink as normal throughout the day and after 15 minutes of each meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) do not eat anything for 2 hours. Try to squeeze in as much water as possible with your meals and between meals.

This type of water therapy is one of the best therapies you could do for yourself with the potential to heal many diseases.

Thalassotherapy Bath

Thalassotherapy is a means of using seawater as a form of therapy. This type of therapy uses water and marine extracts to heal and rejuvenate the body.  It is believed that the properties of seawater are beneficial to the pores of the skin. It is also believed that certain elements in the seawater such as magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium and iodide can absorbed through the skin.  While there is not much scientific research on this type of therapy, it is believed to be very beneficial to the body.

Your don’t have to go to far to achieve this type of therapy.  *You can purchase items such as Detox Bath Salts with Seaweed Minerals online.

Hydro Massage Therapy

Massages can be very beneficial to your health providing benefits such as pain reduction, improved circulation and relief from anxiety and stress.  There are many different types of massage techniques but one in particular is called Hydro Massage.  This is a great way to warm up and loosen your muscles.  There are deep tissue hydro massage options that can relieve tightness and knots within the body.  As with any type of massage, be sure to drink plenty of water to flush out the toxins that are released.

Beach Therapy

One of the most popular and favorite types of water therapies is the natural beach. Again, this involves the natural sea water which was referred to in thalassotherapy, but the benefits of the beach can be powerful.  Ocean water has higher amounts of minerals and many benefits that can help the body heal naturally.

Historically, doctors would recommend their patients visit the ocean to improve various illnesses.  They would actually prescribe their patients to be in the water as therapy.  So if you are able, take a trip to the beach and enjoy the benefits of this natural therapy.  You will be so glad you did!
